Carrera Corvette, shimming the front axle.

 

Here we have the Carrera Corvette C6R.  We're going to show you how to lower the front and stabilize the front axle.

Remove the screws shown be the arrows.  The rears will be a little difficult.  We have used a drill bit to increase the size of the hole so the screw will come out of the whole.  Be sure NOT to drill into the hole that the screw goes through.

Now remove the two screws that hold the front axle carriers.

Below is the axle carrier with the axle removed.

Remove the shim shown by the arrows.

Here we use strip styrene to create another shim.

Using the stock Carrera shim, trace around slots and holes and cut them out.  It's easier to use a drill and a dremel.

Although it's not the nicest trim work, this will work fine.

Now place it on the chassis as shown below.

and now the stock shim from Carrera.

At this point we will shim the axle using squares cut from strip styrene.  Cut them the same width as the spring.

Glue them in place.

Put it all back together and enjoy.  You came see the height difference pictured below.
